Oakhaven, Village

A clutch of rough-hewn stone dwellings, clinging to the mountainside like stubborn weeds. Snow falls thick, muffling all but the wind's howl. A single, treacherous path, cobbled with uneven stones, snakes up from the valley's maw. The air bites, and a strange, metallic tang hangs amidst the woodsmoke.

Notes:

The metallic scent hints at the arms shipments passing through. The villagers are wary, but attempt to appear normal. Torvin, the village elder, is particularly tight-lipped.

The Shop (Elara's Provisions)

A ramshackle structure of timber and plank, its sign obscured by snow. Within, a jumble of mundane supplies: dried herbs, cured meats, rope, tools. A stout woman, her gaze sharp, tends the counter. Furs hang from the rafters. She has a raven in a cage who watches you intently, she treats it with a detached respect. A stack of three large and heavy crates occupies the corner. The air is thick with the mingled scents of trade and the faint, unsettling whiff of oiled steel.

Notes:

The woman, Elara, is an indentured servant to the Merchants Guild, and unwilling caretaker of the weapon crates. She is honest, but bound by her contract. The raven, Corvus, is a Guild messenger.

The Stables (The Iron Hoof)

A hulking edifice of dark stone and timber, its doors barred tight against the storm. The scent of hay and horseflesh mingles with the metallic tang of oiled steel and the faint, acrid smell of gunpowder. Within, heavy crates are shifted by shadowed figures. The rhythmic stamping of hooves echoes in the dim light.

Notes:

Berrick, the stablemaster, is a gruff, heavily muscled man with a permanent scowl. He oversees the loading and unloading of the arms shipments. He is loyal to the Guild, and suspicious of outsiders.

Cottage, Small (The Silent Stone)

A squat, single-room dwelling of dark, rough-hewn stone, built into the very slope of the hill. A thin plume of smoke, tinged with a faint, metallic odor, escapes the chimney. A single, small window, glowing with the flickering light of an oil lamp, offers a glimpse of strange tools and weapon parts. The door is thick, banded with iron. A lean-to shelters crates of black powder. A palpable tension hangs in the air.

Notes:

Kaelen, a wiry, nervous man with soot-stained hands, resides here. He is a skilled weaponsmith, and assembles the arms shipments. He is secretive and paranoid.

The Crag and Kettle Tavern

A warm, inviting glow emanates from the tavern, a welcome respite from the biting cold. The sounds of low conversation and the clinking of tankards drift from within. A hearty fire crackles in the hearth, casting dancing shadows on the rough-hewn walls.

Notes:

Borin, the halfling tavern owner, is friendly and talkative, but avoids sensitive topics. He may have information, but is cautious about sharing it. His daughter Leia helps run the tavern.

Borin's Cottage

A cozy, well-maintained cottage, its chimney puffing out thick, fragrant smoke. It's clear that the owner takes pride in his home. A small garden, currently covered in snow, hints at a green thumb.

Notes:

Borin's personal residence, located just behind the tavern. He keeps it tidy and well-stocked. It's a place of relative comfort in the harsh environment.

Sage's Cottage

A secluded cottage, perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking the village. Its walls are covered in strange symbols and diagrams. A faint, humming energy emanates from within.

Notes:

The home of Elder Theron, a reclusive sage. He's known for his knowledge of ancient lore and forgotten magic. He's withdrawn and cryptic, but may hold vital information.

Pepe's BBQ Stand

A large, open-air BBQ stand, billowing smoke and the mouthwatering scent of roasting meats. Pepe, a large, jovial man, tends the grill with practiced ease, his face flushed from the heat. The stand is a simple affair, a wooden counter and a large iron grill, but the food is undeniably delicious.

Notes:

Pepe, Borin's cousin, is the village cook. His BBQ stand is a popular gathering spot. He's friendly and talkative, but like Borin, avoids sensitive topics.
