Session Summary
Synopsis
Following a rest period filled with existential dread and strange odors, the party is ambushed by Displacer Beasts. A chaotic skirmish ensues, involving a wild magic surge of exploding flumphs and a distinct smell of ammonia. After dispatching the predators and a brief moment of disrespect from Egon, the party locates an elevator deep within the facility.

This Session
Philosophical Dawning and Pungent Aromas
The party stirred from their rest, though the atmosphere remained heavy. While Durmen prepared the group with Darkvision, Aldran spent the morning in deep, somewhat uncomfortable contemplation regarding his umbilical connection to his ancestors.
- The Scent of the Wild: The morning air was thick with a sharp, ozone-like scent, reminiscent of a mountain storm. However, as the party investigated, the smell shifted. Aldran noted a floral, romance-novel-esque aroma—likening it to Durmen’s hair—while Egon and Durmen more accurately identified the underlying stench as ammonia and "dolphin orgy."
The Skirmish: The "Bad Kitties"
The source of the smell was soon revealed: a pair of Displacer Beasts stalking the party through the gloom.
- The Opening Salvo: Durmen initiated the defense with Ice Knife, successfully hitting one beast and forcing its displacement cloak to fail. Aldran followed up with a heavy strike, chastising the creature: "Bad Kitty, Kitty do wrong!"
- Chaos of Combat: The fight was messy. Nail suffered a critical failure, falling prone and taking 15 damage in the tumble. Meanwhile, Aldran’s Wild Magic triggered a surge, summoning an exploding Flumph that pinned the beasts down.
- The Turn of the Tide: Egon managed to land a Confusion spell, neutralizing one of the predators. Balmaris, despite some initial misses, managed to keep himself and the party upright with timely healing.
- The Kill: After a flurry of Spiritual Hammer strikes and Aldran’s Savage Attacker prowess, both Displacer Beasts were neutralized.
The Elevator and the Moon
The party moved through another empty room, eventually finding an elevator leading deeper into the facility.
Before leaving the scene of the battle, Egon opted for a final act of defiance by mooning the fallen predators. With the "Bad Kitties" behind them, the party prepared to enter the lift.
