{{Session | campaign = Echos of Lhynn | session_date = 17 July 2026 | game_date = Late Evening | synopsis = Picking up directly from the corridor standoff, the party faced down a multi-front assault involving Lexana Brightshore, an array of automated Police Robots, an Android Nurse, and a rogue Mind Flayer seeking to hijack the starship. After reviving Durmen from the brink, the party navigated a chaotic three-way battle. Lexana used mobility to escape with the Book of Vedrick—her degraded nature as a clone of a clone of the ancient Phasnosh shipbuilders showing in her unpredictable behavior. Meanwhile, the facility's security automatons engaged both the adventuring party and the invading Mind Flayer. Through high-level spellcasting and tactical luck involving catastrophic enemy fumbles, the party survived the initial waves of the corridor meatgrinder.

Negotiation and Escort Escape

The confrontation in the eastern corridor began with intense standoff dialogue as Lexana Brightshore demanded the party surrender the Book of Vedrick.

The Distraction and the Grab: Durmen, having barely survived his initial collapse, regained consciousness as the party held position. Aldran attempted to stall Lexana by appealing to her vanity, but Lexana maintained control. A Police Robot stepped forward, confiscated the Book of Vedrick from Durmen, and moved to return it to Lexana.

The Shielded Retreat: As Egon prepared a sneak attack and Nail held back to watch Aldran's play, a Police Robot scooped Lexana into its mechanical arms, physically shielding her body from missile fire and whisking her down the hallway.

The Corridor Meatgrinder

With negotiations broken, full-scale combat erupted down the narrow facility corridor.

Mass Healing and Swarm Spells: Balmaris opened the defense with a 3rd-level Mass Healing Word, restoring critical vitality across the frontline. Egon invoked his Symbiotic Entity and unleashed a 5th-level Insect Plague (dealing 29 piercing damage), filling the corridor with biting swarms. The Police Robots retaliated with *Stun Rays* and *Grappler Arm* strikes.

Wild Magic and the Paralytic Syringe: Durmen struck with an Ice Knife before ducking into a side chamber for cover. Aldran flew into a Rage, triggering a Wild Magic Surge that generated protective cosmic light (+1 AC to nearby allies). Aldran sprinted down the hall and ripped Lexana out of the robot's arms, forcing her to the deck. Before he could pin her, an Android Nurse emerged from a southern doorway and jammed a *Paralytic Syringe* into Aldran, leaving him completely paralyzed.

High-Level Retaliation: Lexana utilized Misty Step to break line of sight and retreat further into the facility. Balmaris called down a catastrophic 6th-level Flame Strike for 33 total fire and radiant damage against two Police Robots, followed by a *Spiritual Weapon*. Egon blasted the automaton line with a 5th-level Blight for 42 necrotic damage.

Battle in the hallway

The Rogue Mind Flayer and Three-Way Chaos

Just as the party began gaining ground against the security automatons, a third faction crashed the battle.

The Mind Blast: A levitating Mind Flayer (designated in security logs as a high-threat *Phasnosh Greater Acolyte*) emerged from the eastern shadows. Having previously escaped captivity, the creature was actively attempting to seize control of the ancient Phasnosh starship for its own dark motives. It unleashed a 60-foot cone *Mind Blast* (DC 17 Int Save, 31 psychic damage). Nail successfully withstood the psychic wave, but the paralyzed Aldran took the full force of the blast.

Automaton Protocol Directive: Recognizing the rogue Mind Flayer as an unauthorized intruder attempting to compromise ship control systems, the facility's automated Police Robots split their focus, moving to actively intercept and detain the illithid alongside the party.

Fumbles and Mechanical Breakdown

The battle descended into mechanical failures and clutch spellcasting as both sides suffered heavy attrition.

Catastrophic Fumbles: The Mind Flayer attempted to extract Aldran's brain with its tentacles, but suffered consecutive critical fumbles—first stubbing its appendage on facility architecture for self-damage, and subsequently suffering a catastrophic attack fumble that shattered its momentum, dealing self-inflicted shrapnel damage and stunning itself for a round.

The Toxic Cloud and Divine Intervention: Durmen finished off one of the heavily damaged Police Robots from inside the side room with a precise Fire Bolt (14 fire damage), causing the automaton to detonate into a smoldering heap of sparking circuits and a toxic gas hazard. As the party took heavy crushing damage from remaining grappler units, Balmaris cast a 6th-level Heal spell, restoring 78 Hit Points to stabilize the frontline.

| treasure = Book of Vedrick (Confiscated by Lexana / Police Robot units). | key_npcs = [[Lexana Brightshore[[ (Phasnosh Clone), Android Nurse, Phasnosh Greater Acolyte (Rogue Mind Flayer), Police Robot Elite Units. | tasks = Pursue Lexana to recover the Book of Vedrick; stop the escaped Mind Flayer before it gains control of the Phasnosh starship; clear remaining security automatons. | rumors = Lexana is not the original Phasnosh individual, but rather a late-generation clone of a clone, explaining her unstable behavior and personality quirks.}}
