Session Overview
Synopsis
Picking up immediately after the Warforged dropship landed at the crash site, the party negotiated with the constructs and met Lexana Brightshore. Lexana detailed the ancient history of the Phasnosh Empire, the creation of the Warforged by Emperor Vedrick, and the fracturing of the Book of Vedrick across the Multiverse. After offering an alliance to rebuild the empire and leaving the party with a communicator, she departed. The party traveled to the Griffin and the Warlock tavern to rest and debate her offer. The following morning, after an encounter with local factions, an agonizingly spicy local breakfast, and questioning by Southwinds Trading Company guards, the party visited the Bitter Valkyrie magic shop, where Durmen uncovered an ancient manuscript fragment bearing marginalia related to Vecna.

Narrative
Imperial Lore and the Phasnosh Proposal
Facing six newly arrived Warforged shock-troops, the party opted for diplomacy over immediate combat.
The Disarming and the Overture: Aldran identified the leader of the squad and convinced the Warforged that the party meant no harm and had aided in defeating the multi-headed beasts. The constructs instructed Durmen to step forward, announcing that their mistress wished to speak with him, and demanded the party surrender their weapons. After Egon dryly remarked that they couldn't remove their physical arms, Aldran and Nail disarmed themselves. Lexana landed shortly after, addressing the party with dramatic flair—flirting with Durmen, praising Aldran's physique, and inquiring about Egon's druidic background.

Sanctuary at the Griffin and the Warlock
Seeking a safe place to confer, the party traveled into town and secured shelter at a local establishment.
Negotiating Lodging: The party arrived at the Griffin and the Warlock tavern, operated by an energetic, tawny-haired elf named Norman Elhier. After negotiating private rooms and a full meal, Norman handed over room keys. As the party ate, they debated their dilemma: remain to assist Lexana in restoring the Phasnosh Empire or seek a path back to their home world of Greyhawk. Durmen pointed out that accepting the offer might provide the perfect position to unmake Lexana from within.
Eyes on the Party: Throughout the evening, several groups of dockworkers and adventurers entered the tavern but turned away due to the party buying out all available rooms. A few patrons closely observed the group, and a Southwinds patrol briefly conferred with Norman before moving on. The party then retired for a long rest.
Local Friction and the Native Spice
The morning brought introductions to local power dynamics, faction warnings, and a severe culinary miscalculation.
Faction Warnings and Druid Curiosity: The party awoke to the smell of fresh cooking. Downstairs, Jaspar Vance, a barkeep allied with the Southwinds Trading Company, recommended the party take mercenary work protecting Southwinds convoys and warehouses. Shortly after, a waitress named Miranda quietly warned the party against joining Southwinds, describing them as aggressive extortionists who enforce strict curfews through an informant network. Curious about nature beyond the town, Miranda asked Egon about druids and invited him to dinner to learn more.
The Native Spice Challenge: Miranda served the party Elvish Spiced Omelettes (2 GP). Insisting they could handle the local cuisine, the party ordered the authentic "native spice" version, failing their Constitution saves and suffering severe stomach distress that left them with disadvantage on physical checks for the next hour while Jaspar and Miranda laughed.
The Bitter Valkyrie and the Shadow of Vecna
Guided by Jaspar, the party ventured into the city streets toward a local shop.
Southwinds Patrol Encounter: En route, three Southwinds guards stopped the group to question Egon about his green skin tone. The guards explained they were searching for green-skinned half-orc adventurers who had recently caused trouble in town, ordering the party to report any matching individuals.
Secrets of the Ancient Scrap: Reaching the Bitter Valkyrie magic shop, the party was greeted by an elderly proprietor who shared news of local sages deciphering documents recovered from a western fort. Among his inventory was a torn parchment from a religious text containing necromantic ingredients. Examining the sheet, Durmen spotted handwritten marginal notes referencing Vecna alongside unreadable script. Finding the merchant's prices excessively high, the party declined major purchases and returned to the street.
