Scene Overview
The party’s descent into the depths of the Barrier Peaks ship began with a desperate gamble—a manual elevator drop that nearly ended in catastrophe. When Balmaris’s grip failed, a hundred-foot plunge was only arrested by Nail’s sheer, iron-willed strength, holding the anchor against a weight that threatened to pull them all into the abyss. They survived the fall, but only to find themselves navigating a tomb of corrupted, ancient technology. The group deciphered harrowing warnings of "phase-shifted organisms"—a haunting history of a facility that failed long ago, releasing horrors that still linger in the dark. Their attempt to find respite in a sterile room ended in a nightmare of toxic coolant; Durmen’s heroic intervention to seal the rupture saved the party from suffocation, but he paid a terrible, hidden price for his efforts. When they attempted to retreat, the ship itself seemed to turn against them. The elevator failed, forcing a grueling climb and a desperate push through a bottleneck of heavily armored police robots. Durmen’s lightning carved through the metallic blockade, and Aldran’s wild magic siphoned life from the very air to hold the line, yet the machine onslaught proved relentless. In the heat of the struggle, Durmen fell to a brutal blow. Just as the smoke and ozone filled the hallway, the shadows parted. Lexana stood before the survivors—menacing, composed, and cold—with a fresh patrol of machines at her back. Surveying the bloodied party and the fallen druid, she offered only a chilling smile: "Nice to see you boys. My sister sends her regards."

DM's Guidance
Notes and Reminders
Lexana prioritizes survival and the book; she will abandon the warforged if the situation turns critical. She retains 2 uses of Legendary Resistance to survive Mind Flayer psionics.
Tactical COA:
- Round 1: The Phalanx Dash. Lexana initiates the encounter by positioning her prototype warforged in a phalanx to block the party’s advance. She utilizes Greater Invisibility on herself to slip out of the party's line of sight while the warforged engage. If the party attempts to bypass the warforged, she uses Wall of Force to isolate them or provide herself a temporary sanctuary to approach the book.
- Round 2: Retrieval and Extraction. Lexana abandons her position of cover and commands all remaining prototype warforged to create a wedge formation towards the body of Durmen. She uses her action to cast Fly on herself to bypass the ground-level chaos, keeping her altitude just high enough to remain out of melee range but low enough to maintain control over the warforged. She descends rapidly to Durmen's body and uses her bonus action (via Cunning Action) or a standard interaction to snatch the book. If the path to her primary exit is obstructed, she employs Misty Step to reposition instantly into a favorable lane for flight. If confronted by a major threat, she uses her Fragment of Videric’s Truth legendary action to stun or distract the closest threat—whether it be a player or the Mind Flayer itself.
- Survival & Mind Flayer Escalation: If her health is compromised or she is pinned, she triggers Arcane Deflection to bolster her defenses. She will sacrifice her remaining prototype warforged, ordering them to self-destruct or swarm the Mind Flayer to create a chaotic smoke screen if she is forced to flee through a different corridor. She will not risk her life to recover warforged if the Mind Flayer hijacks them. If the path is blocked, she will deploy Otiluke’s Resilient Sphere to encase herself and the book, becoming temporarily immune to physical interference. If pinned by the Mind Flayer, she will attempt to broker a temporary, desperate alliance, offering to use her arcane power to help the party survive the psionic threat in exchange for safe passage to the hangar.
