Session Overview
Synopsis
Following Lexana Brightshore's escape with the Book of Vedrick, the party survives the climax of a chaotic three-way standoff against a rogue Mind Flayer, facility security automatons, and an invading Vegepygmy horde before enduring a violent launch through a quantum singularity to land at Zephyr'on Spaceport.
Narrative
Session 153: Ambush & The Mind Flayer
The acrid stench of ozone and freshly spilled blood hung heavy in the corridor. Lexana Brightshore was gone—vanished into the dark with the Book of Vedrick—and in her wake, the passage had descended into a total meatgrinder.
Durmen opened the engagement by flinging a Fire Bolt at an advancing Police Robot, but the shot missed wide; he used the momentum to disengage and retreat down the hallway. Flying into a berserker rage, Aldran charged the Mind Flayer (a terrifying Phasnosh Greater Acolyte) and swung hard, landing a heavy strike on the aberration. The Mind Flayer retaliated mercilessly, attempting to extract and consume Aldran's brain mid-combat with its coiled tentacles.

Meanwhile, the Robo-Nurse moved in with terrifying mechanical precision, scoring two consecutive critical hits to strike down Nail. Balmaris channeled divine power to cast a group heal, restoring vital vitality to keep the battered party on their feet. The Police Robot fired its stun ray directly at Egon. Egon barely shook off the paralyzing energy, only to be struck and pinned fast by the robot's crushing mechanical arm. Refusing to yield, Egon activated his Symbiotic Entity and wild shaped, surrounding the grappling construct in a swirling halo of spores before casting a bonus-action Healing Word on Durmen.
Session 154: Counterattack, Horde & Spaceflight
The battle raged on as Egon succumbed to a paralyzing injection from the Robo-Nurse, though his active halo of spores continued to burn into her steel frame. The Police Robot attempted to stun Egon a second time and missed a follow-up grapple, while Nail broke free of his paralysis, recovering his wits and snapping back into the fight.
Logistical directives overridden, the facility’s Police Robots pivoted their programming to apprehend the Mind Flayer. The constructs struck three out of four times, successfully grappling the illithid. Seeing his opening, Balmaris fired a Guiding Bolt directly into the grappled Mind Flayer. Overwhelmed by the police construct's grip and the radiant blast, the Mind Flayer executed an emergency Astral Shift, vanishing from the battlefield entirely. Balmaris's Spiritual Weapon swung at a Police Robot but missed.
Egon cast Chill Touch at the nearest Police Robot and followed up with a Healing Word on Aldran, who felt his shattered, half-extracted brain magically stitching itself back together. Spotting the Robo-Nurse, Durmen approached her ("Robo-Dame") and used his charm and fast-talking persuasive skills to negotiate:
"Help us! We were attacked! The Mind Flayer was attacking us—we were only defending ourselves. The police are jumping us now and we don't want to fight. Can you help my friend Aldran? He's almost dead!"
Durmen's appeal worked—the nurse's hostile posture relaxed, and her deadly syringes retracted back into her steel hands:
"I didn't realize it was Durmen. Awaiting instructions."
Painting Durmen with a red targeting laser, she scanned his injuries and jabbed him with a restorative syringe without asking. She then mobilized to treat Aldran, restoring him from the brink of death.
Counterattack, Horde & Spaceflight
Suddenly, a chattering horde of Vegepygmies breached the northern hallway, swarming into the corridor. Spotting the horde, Durmen prudently disengaged and retreated toward the western end of the hallway, calling out:
"Fuck you guys, I'm out!"
The Police Robot registered the new biological threat in the eastern corridor:
"Infection detected... must contain the contagion!"
The construct completely abandoned the party and charged east toward the vegepygmy wave. Balmaris stepped up, preparing to secure the rear, while Durmen called back: "Magic man, run!" Nail provided rear-guard coverage, holding the doorway as Balmaris fell back.
Egon managed to lure and trick a Police Robot into stepping out into the corridor before slamming and locking the heavy vault doors using an orange-and-black security key. Searching the room, Egon uncovered a storage table with three glowing vials filled with churning, pinkish-red fluid—the same substance the Robo-Nurse used. Durmen and Egon chugged two of the vials, restoring 48 HP. Out in the hall, three Vegepygmies charged straight into Balmaris's active Blade Barrier; two were instantly shredded into flying wooden guts, while the third was blasted out of existence by a follow-up fireball.
Aldran tossed the final healing potion across the room to Balmaris, who caught it and drank it, regaining 25 HP. Meanwhile, the potent restorative/regeneration injection administered by Robo-Dame pulsed through Aldran's nervous system. As the advanced medical serum worked alongside the residual healing magic to reconstruct his brain tissue after the Mind Flayer's attack, his intelligence stat was re-rolled—leaping from an 8 to an unprecedented 18. The barbarian was now a tactical genius.

The Takeoff & Crash
Robo-Dame approached to warn the party:
"The inertial dampeners were damaged a few millennia ago when the ship crashed onto this planet. It is unlikely you have the technical know-how to fix them. The Phasnosh technology is centuries beyond your understanding. Strap yourselves in—the landing may be as rough as the takeoff."
Lacking proper launch chairs in the mess hall, the party braced as best they could. The vessel violently shuddered and tore free into the sky, forcing itself through a quantum singularity. The acceleration hurled the unbuckled party against the bulkheads, dealing 20 bludgeoning damage to everyone in the room. After a brief moment of horrifying weightlessness, the ship violently impacted the ground at its destination, and greenish, sulfurous coolant gas began leaking up through the buckled floor plates.
Aftermath & The Zephyr'on Spaceport
Robo-Dame processed their arrival:
"We have arrived on Zephyr'on—one of the primary spaceports of the Phasnosh Empire. The vessel was an exploration ship harvesting specimens to extend the Phasnosh lifespan. I am bound to this vessel and my power supply is nearly depleted, but I can heal you before you depart."
The nurse injected the entire party with her remaining medical reserves, bringing everyone back to full HP (though those who failed their Constitution saves were left feeling nauseous). She escorted them to the airlock and bid them farewell as the inner bulkhead sealed behind them.
Stepping out, the outer airlock opened onto a scorched, twisted metal walkway overlooking a new world. The sun was setting over a lush, green forest under a late-summer sky—but ancient, collapsed structures and lingering magical residual energy revealed that a massive, historical battle once took place here. The party stood fully healed at the edge of the Zephyr'on Spaceport, ready to explore the alien landscape.
